National Geographic Traveling Map AFRICA
January 3 – 25, 2012
Designed for grades K-8, the map is designed as a geo-game board to introduce students to the power of maps and the diverse geography of Africa. Through a variety of docent-led interactive activities, students will be actively exploring the physical characteristics of the continent as well as its rich history, marvelous wildlife, and varied cultures.

It’s Tea Time
Would you like to take a step back in time to enjoy an authentic Victorian Tea Party in our delightful Victorian Room? Tea Parties can now be scheduled at Massie for groups of twenty or less. Your guests will receive an official invitation with personalized directions. You will be treated to a lesson in etiquette, proper tea time conversation, games of the Victorian era as well as learning about the customs of afternoon tea, including creating your own “calling card.” Prices vary depending on your customization.

A traditional May festival coordinated through the Massie Center, this program has been a Massie School event since the 1850s. Each year, elementary school children from the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools gather for this multicultural event to perform a variety of ethnic dances, in addition to the May Pole Dance, in Calhoun Square just in front of Massie School.
