May Day
A traditional May festival coordinated through the Massie Center, this program has  been a Massie School event since the 1850s.  Each year, elementary school children  from the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools gather for this multicultural event to perform a variety of ethnic dances, in addition to the May Pole Dance, in Calhoun Square just in front of Massie School.

Georgia Heritage Celebration...
A multi-week series of events in February of each year, the Georgia Heritage Celebration includes many educational programs and competitions for children of many grade levels. 
A project sponsored jointly by the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools and the Georgia Historical Society, the Georgia Heritage Celebration culminates in the Georgia Day Parade with costumed figures from Georgia's history, along with children in colonial apparel, on February 12, the day of the founding of Georgia. On Sunday, November 5th, 2006, Massie Heritage Center celebrated its 150th Anniversary in grad style.
The festivities included proclamations by the city of Savannah's Mayor, Otis Johnson, Chatham County Commission Chairman, Mr. Pete Liakakis, Savannah - Chatham County's Board of Education President, Mr. Hugh Golson, Friends of Massie Committee President, Mrs. Emma Adler, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Savannah - Chatham County's Board of Education, Mrs. Dotti Overstreet, and Social Studies Director for the school system, Mrs. Candy Lowe.
Calhoun Square was full of excitement and energy as Savannah celebrated the past, present and future of Massie School.

Massie Heritage Center is the perfect setting for an elegant reception or party. Massie's gardens are maintained by the Garden Club of Savannah and are simply stunning! Located on Calhoun Square, Massie is an affordable venue in Savannah's Historic District.
