Massie School houses five permanent exhibits focused on Savannah’s  history, architecture, and preservation movement.

Savannah’s City Plan

Learn about influences on Oglethorpe’s design for Savannah.  Explore the city plan, ways the city grew, and the continuing influence of the city plan on its residents.  Highlights of this exhibit include a 3-D model of Savannah’s 2.2 square mile Landmark Historic District, along with compass believed to be the one Oglethorpe used in laying out the city.  This exhibit includes the addition of laser shows, engaging interactives and touchscreen displays. Read More

Native Americans in Coastal Georgia

 The Debatable Lands investigates the native peoples of Coastal Georgia from pre-Columbian groups through the Colonial time period.  Along with text mounts, authentic Native American artifacts as well as reproductions are displayed. Read More

    A Massie Sampler

    Savannah’s Museum for History and Architecture has a wide variety of exhibits that can be combined and custom designed to meet your educational needs and offer hands-on opportunities for learning. Experience Massie’s 3-D city model and laser shows; stand in the shadows of architectural icons; sit in the seats of a 19th century classroom; view artifacts from some of Savannah's lost architectural treasures and take a walk along the Coastal Georgia timeline from its earliest days until the arrival of James Oglethorpe.
