Oglethorpe’s City Plan
A Unique Plan
Learn about influences on Oglethorpe’s design for Savannah. Explore the city plan, ways the city grew, and the continuing influence of the city plan on its residents. Highlights of this exhibit include a 3-D model of Savannah’s 2.2 square mile Landmark Historic District, along with compass believed to be the one Oglethorpe used in laying out the city.
This exhibit is currently closed for renovation and is scheduled to reopen in the spring of 2011. Exhibit improvements include the addition of engaging interactives and touchscreen displays.
