Restoration Update

Massie School Building Restoration Project begun in the October, 2009 is scheduled for
completion this fall!  Support for this project was funded by the school district’s special option sales tax and the Friends of Massie, a 501c3 group. Building stabilization, the elimination of water intrusion, and ADA accessibility were the primary goals of the project.  Work included truss repairs, repointing brick, securing foundation and
plinth, and ADA upgrades including an elevator.

The Friends of Massie provided additional funding to remove all of the support
columns on the first floor.  The locationof the new exhibits required a better movement of visitors throughout themuseum.  The new space will provide a  better flow as well as a meeting space which is no longer impeded by columns.

Look for information in the coming months for our GRAND REOPENING!!!
